Casey Rolseth
Casey Rolseth is an illustrator and visual effects artist from Vancouver, BC. He has enjoyed a successful career as a visual effects artist for over thirteen years. His resume includes significant feature films including the look development for the 3D components of lead characters Black Panther and Killmonger in the movie, ‘Black Panther’.
His relationship with art began as a child, encouraged by artistic parents who were creatively versatile and always very supportive. He experimented with everything from silversmithing to woodworking to drawing and painting. There was a growing library of art books around, and from a young age, he was captivated by surrealists like Dali, the graphic nature of Pop art from the 70s and 80s, the scientific illustrations of Ernst Haeckel and abstract expressionists like R.Rauchenberg and F.Stella.
Later in life, his professional training allowed Casey to combine his love of art and computers, studying graphic design in Edmonton, AB and visual effects in Vancouver, BC.
Casey’s paintings are mostly layered acrylic paint, pencil, oil paint or pastels on canvas or board. He usually starts with an abstract drawing and colour palette that is projected onto the canvas and then he layers paint over and over again. His goal is to be able to focus more on a consistent style and then produce larger format images, either printed or painted.
He welcomes the opportunity to work with new clients, especially with projects involving product design, in particular, fashion design collaboration.
