Paula Callejas

Paula Callejas is a contemporary painter from Quito, Ecuador. Her work is inspired by the human need to better ourselves and find ways to handle our thoughts and sometimes, our grief. She examines the power of thought and explores how the ideas we nurture influence how we experience life.

Paula is an autodidact with a lifelong passion for art. Since her first solo exhibition in 2004, she has participated in solo and group shows in Ecuador and the US. In 2017 she began focussing solely on her formal creative practice and currently works from her studio in Miami, Florida.

“I paint because creating is where I’m most true to myself. It is a great expression of self-love where I lose my fears, and I create from a place of calm. Painting lets me dream, be still and escape. I decided to share my work because my greatest dream is that someone will find it beautiful; and that in this beauty they’ll find the same sense of calmness and endless possibility

I had when I created it, that another human can connect with my own reflections of life, love and our incredible power of choosing how we view life.

Maybe my art will be a reminder for you of what is a priority in your life, of your uniqueness and own bravery. If my art can convey the positive feelings I had when I created it, then my dream has come true!”
