Dário de Sousa Santos

Portuguese freelance illustrator, Dário Santos has found his home creating seemingly surrealist landscapes with a cartoonish feel. Using intense and fluorescent colours, his illustrative work demands attention and often contains an element of satire. 

After winning the international contest Festas de Lisboa ‘13 with his illustration submission of a bright blue and yellow-toothed sardine, he felt that he should continue pursuing the development of a personal style with unique characteristics. This led him to a medium not used by many, POSCA markers. 

Dário also has experience working as a concept artist and animator in the production of video games, short movies and TV advertisement, however, his main focus is illustration.

In 2018, he moved to the United Kingdom to study illustration at Solent University.
