María José Da Luz

Costa Rican illustrator and artist María José Da Luz creates whimsical and stylistically cute art as a children’s illustrator and a portraiture artist. 

 She trained as a graphic designer and printmaker at the Universidad de Costa Rica, Maria enjoys exploring different media and combining them together to create dynamic design solutions. She works with paper, etching, aquatint, markers, digital media and highly traditional techniques like embroidery. Her children’s illustrations are made mostly in digital media with Adobe Illustrator.

 Maria is inspired by life in general, animals, surrealism, nature, and travelling. She has had the opportunity to participate in different collectives and solo exhibitions around the world and feature her work in various publications. Through her work, she has realized her passion for raising awareness on social projects to help those in need through art.
