Grace Foo-Barton
Originally from Malaysia and briefly living in Adelaide before finally settling in the South-East of Melbourne, Grace feels that she is in the perfect place to further inspire her journey as an artist. The place she resides in is surrounded by beautiful landscapes such as The Dandenong Ranges, local botanical gardens and The Mornington Peninsula. Grace’s art is inspired by her past and recent travels while combining it with everyday life emotions to create her unique pieces. Self-taught, Grace had the freedom to experiment with different techniques using a variety of media, tones and texture. These are some of the ways she can express and introduce her style of painting on to the canvas.
Every piece has its own unique story to tell, and has a different time frame; depending on the process of the layering and technique used. The beauty of her abstract art is that she never knows where the process may take her. She enjoys the mystery, wonder, beauty and dedication that each piece requires from her. Her love for meeting new people and travelling locally, interstate or overseas provides her with the opportunity to experience different types of lifestyle experiences from a range of diverse cultural backgrounds. Grace uses the natural surroundings of Mother Nature and her travel experiences as inspiration to evoke her creative mind by using vivid colours in representing harmonious life, culture and diversity. Grace’s approach and her interests are continually evolving. Currently, she is focusing more on themes of ‘love and speaking life’ onto others.
