Julie Ferris
“My work is influenced by everything equine or equestrian: the symbolism, power, history, and beauty connected to the horse and all that encompasses it.”
Equestrian artist Julie Ferris gathers inspiration from her life and surroundings as well as her passion for the horse and the art of riding. For the past decade, Julie has focused on equestrian derived works and seeks to reinvent the horse in art by merging classical and modern thought.
Julie is drawn to Scandinavian design and her art aims to combine simplicity with complexity. She uses oil painting techniques to achieve a richness and flexibility that is well suited to her subject and vision. She strives for excellence and innovation in her work and continues to push the boundaries of the horse in art so that this transcendent animal is uniquely narrated in her visualisations of it.
Her work is regularly exhibited in group and solo shows with galleries in Georgia and South Carolina. She has been featured in many notable equestrian magazines. In 2017, she created her first life-size equestrian work titled ‘Steadfast’ which was exhibited and sold by Spalding Nix Fine Art in Atlanta. Another life-size work is in progress and will be shown in 2019 with the same gallery.
Julie currently resides in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, US.
