Laila Illustration
Laila Illustration is inspired by the arts and culture of both Spain and Syria. She currently lives and works in her hometown of Barcelona, Spain. However, her ethnic origins hail from Syria on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea.
She is a professional illustrator whose style has been qualified as expressionist. She studied illustration at Massana, a prestigious art and design school located in Barcelona. Following her graduation in 2015, she began her freelance practice. Laila’s creative practice is a reflection of her life and personality, Laila states that “drawing is my life, and occupies most of it’’.
Her work has been featured in exhibitions and can also be seen in printed publications. Her primary clients are publishing houses. She has been commissioned to illustrate and design the covers of a broad range of literary works including novels, poetry and short stories. Laila has illustrated the writings of notable authors including, Gustavo Adolfo Béquer, Gabriel García Márquez and Federico García Lorca. Her recent work includes an illustration for the book World Heritage of Catalonia for the Generalitat of Catalonia.
