Amara Sikander
Amara Sikander is a designer and illustrator focusing on societal issues including women’s empowerment, feminism and identity constructs.
“My art is heavily focused on symbolism and the human form, both of which I use to explore concepts of vulnerability, identity, and freedom. Currently, I am focused on pushing the space between line and shape and painting to create a sense of fluidity, density, and form. My interests include ecology, conservation, and social equality; all of which I actively pursue in my free time, both within and outside the confines of my artistic practice”.
Amara is currently based out of Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her MFA in Visual Communication Design and now works as an art director at BBDO Pakistan.
She is working on a ‘Women Empowerment Series’. “In my work, I try to give women an avatar of a warrior with white marks that are inspired by African and other tribal tattoos. I talk about empowering women for a better tomorrow, for a better humanity.”
