Jorge Bustos
A natural inclination to the arts led illustrator and visual artist, Jorge Bustos, through a series of efforts, trying architecture, then graphic design, and finally finding his element in studying visual arts.
Jorge was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. You can see in his fluid, eclectic work, traces of influences from artists including Jean Girard (Moebius), James Jean, Ernesto Garcia Cabral and Pablo Picasso.
Jorge often plays with dramatic colour to create forms and uses lines to build abstractions in his work.
“I was always experimenting and creating different things. I think experimentation and trying to make new things define me.”
Jorge uses Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for his digital work. As for traditional art, he sticks to ink and oil painting. He has showcased his work in international biennials in Mexico and Beijing and has future exhibitions planned. Jorge has also participated in several artist projects dedicated to the diffusion of culture against social repression.
