Raúl Cerrillo
Raúl studied at the National School of Arts, La Esmeralda (INBA) in Mexico and also at the Institute of Visual Arts in Puebla. He has taken glass painting courses in Wheaton Village, NJ, United States.
Raúl describes his work as “Neo-expressionism of the self, that is characterised by my vivid and intense use of material. My work is reminiscent of Mexican folklore and pre Hispanic knowledge, frequently depicting symbols reminding us of the connection to our inner divinity.”
Actively committed to the improvement of his local community, Raúl has created numerous programs focused on the power of healing through art.
He is also the co-founder of Shaped in Mexico, a platform for exhibiting Mexican inspired art to an international audience. He has held solo exhibitions in Mexico and Germany as well as numerous collective exhibitions worldwide. Raúl is part of the Margain Junco Collection and is represented by Distrito 14 gallery, Mexico.
