Tom van der Linden
Tom van der Linden is a Dutch illustrator who describes his work as “vibrant, energetic, highly detailed, illustrative with an emphasis on draughtsmanship and a heavy nod to European comics and graphic novels.”
While he is primarily a self-taught artist, Tom trained as a visual designer with a focus on gaming. He graduated as a game artist from the Hogeschool van de Kunsten Utrecht in 2012.
He mostly works digitally, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Clip Studio Paint depending on the style he’s aiming for.
Tom says, “my all-time inspirations are as varied as my influences. Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo fame, Mark Lanegan, the dark troubadour and Jean ‘Moebius’ Giraud to name a few. My current inspirations are French comic artist Ralph Meyer and Spanish comic artists Roger Ibanez and Juan Guarnido.”
His professional career includes a position as visual designer at JoraVision, where he worked as part of the 2016 launch team of the Wildlands Emmen Zoo. He has worked for a number of businesses in a range of industries including, JoraVision, Leisure Expert Group, Schokkend Nieuws, Submarine Animation studio, BoomArtwork, Cinematic, Tomorrowland and 3voor12.
A recent portfolio highlight was his work as a storyboarder on ‘Undone’, a visually unique and enthralling new series coming to Amazon Prime.
